Last month, several of Divine Child’s sophomores, traveled down to the Detroit Science and Engineering Fair, to enter their projects against dozens of other high schools. The students started the day off by talking to judges for several hours, and after a short break, they came back to their projects to find out the following:

Category Award: 1 (First Place)
Two lucky winners, David Bustamante and Fiona Van Antwerp, won first place in their categories for our projects. From there, the two were accepted to go on to the Michigan Science and Engineering Fair at Kettering University, on Saturday, March 31, for their 18th Annual Fair. Fiona was the only student out of 4 qualifiers that went to the state level competition.
Fiona received the name of a professor a Kettering University who will help her industrialize her product. Along with that, she has the opportunity to have an hour of free patent advice. She has filed for a one year provisional patent and with the help of the professor (whom she is receiving her help) she hopes to apply for grant money as well as the full patent (20 years).
DCHS wants to congratulate all those who participated in the fair and received awards in the science fair. Congratulations!
